Hello!
I have a Canon Rebel SL3 that I’ve been using to take photos, and I get an error when trying to upload my images to imageJ. Could this be because the RAW photos save as .cr3 extension rather than .arw? If so, is there any way I could safely convert the photos to .arw or get imageJ to accept the .cr3 file?
Thank you!
Ahh – that’s a really new camera model, so it’s possible the DCRAW version used by the toolbox can’t handle it. I’ll try to update it and release a fix.
Cheers,
Jolyon
Just an update, it is definitely due to the new format of .cr3 images. DCRAW has been discontinued, and is now being maintained by the amazing LibRAW team. So I’m working to switch over to LibRAW.
Ok, I think I’ve got LibRAW working with the toolbox (for Windows and Linux). For windows here is the temporary fix until I work it into a new release.
Instructions:
- Install ImageJ and the micaToolbox as usual
- Download this zip
- From the zip extract “dcrawWin.exe” and “libraw.dll” to imagej\plugins\dcraw, overwrite the existing file
- From the zip extract “DCRAW_import.ijm” to imagej\plugins\micaToolbox\Tools\ and overwrite the existing file
This updates the toolbox so it can work with newer formats of RAW file, such as .cr3 from newer Canon cameras.
Ok, a beta version of the new integration with LibRAW is now up for testing on all systems (Linux, windows and mac). See here.
Thank you!!
