Hi Jolyon,
I used Nikon D90 (after quartz conversion) + Nikkor EL 80 mm, but now I realized there is no such combination in MicaToolbox. Is there any chance you could add it (including vision of dog, blue tit, human, domestic fowl, D65 etc.)? I learned from your paper (Troscianko & Stevens 2015), that you investigated sensitivities of Nikon D90, so perhaps it wouldn’t be a big problem….
Thank you in advance.
Cheers,
Adrian
Hi Adrian,
Yes I have calibrated a D90, however that was with the Nikon Nikkor 105mm f/2.4 lens (the modern lens, which is very poor in UV). You’re using the old Nikkor EL 80mm lens, which is very different.
I would guess that the D90’s sensitivities are very close to the D7000 family, and the Nikkor 80mm is likely to be closest to the Novoflex Noflexar transmission. So that’s probably the best model to use. You could verify this yourself against a colour chart.
Alternatively, if you have a spectrometer you could make your own UV calibration chart (see the user guide – this only works with natural sunlight and you need to measure the chart using sunlight).
Cheers,
Jolyon
